Shiru is excited to announce the appointment of Aly Boyce to the role of Chief of Staff.
Shiru’s mission is to feed people sustainably by leveraging machine learning and precision biology to identify and create ideal food proteins. As Shiru goes through rapid growth during the commercialization of its new ingredient discoveries, Aly’s operational experience will help scale the business and extend our team’s abilities.

Growing up on a small island in The Bahamas, I have seen the first-hand impacts of climate change, including experiencing stronger and more frequent hurricanes and local ecosystem degradation. I am deeply passionate about combating climate change, and one of the greatest solutions is to remake our existing food system. Working with an extremely talented team, passionate about sustainable food systems, and having the opportunity of working closely with female Founder & CEO Dr. Jasmin Hume is a true honor.”
Aly received her BA in Political Science and BS in Society & Environment at UC Berkeley. Her prior experience includes Program Management at JUST, Business Operations and Executive Operations at MightyHive, and Integration at S4 Capital.
Aly enjoys being in the natural world in her free time, whether in the Bay or The Bahamas. She is a rescue-certified SCUBA diver, runner, swimmer, and home chef. She is currently trying to perfect some local Bahamian recipes to bring back to the Bay Area!
