Shiru Welcomes Diana Chen as General Counsel

We are excited to announce that Diana Chen has joined Shiru as the company’s General Counsel. Shiru’s mission is to feed people sustainably by leveraging machine learning and precision biology to identify and create ideal food proteins.

Diana Chen received her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and her B.S. in Biochemistry/Chemistry from the San Diego University of California.Diana brings over 17 years of legal experience to Shiru, most recently serving as General Counsel at Karius, a life sciences company focused on generating genomic insights for infectious diseases. Shiru will heavily leverage her extensive experience in building infrastructure and scaling start-ups during this hyper-growth phase.

Before joining the start-up world, Diana spent four years at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where she handled legal matters and global commercial transactions for a wide range of business and technology units, including medical devices, laboratory equipment, consumables, chemicals, companion diagnostic development, assay quality controls, bioinformatics, software solutions, next-generation sequencing technologies, and consumer products. Diana also spent almost nine years working at prominent law firms in Los Angeles, where she developed expertise in many specialty areas, including technology transactions, trademark prosecution, IP litigation, and general business litigation.
